Exploring Street Food, Cooking, and Cheap Eats in New York City and Beijing

diddydirty asked: Being a Chinese (American), recent NY transplant. I have to ask, What is your connection between street food in New York and China?

I actually lived in China (Shenzhen but did a lot of traveling) for a year back in 07-08.  I spent a lot of time at beer gardens and street food stalls.  I’ll be heading back in January to study and give tours on the Street Food culture in Beijing.  I’m also a native New Yorker and I love  most anything from a cart.  Falaffel, Kebobs, Pretzles, Hotdogs, and even Chuan’r (which you can get in Manhattan just below the Manhattan Bridge on Forsyth).
